This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever wanted to read but couldn't find a book that interested you? With my Build a Better Library project, my students won't have to look far to find an interesting book. These books will be added to my existing library, so my students won't have to leave the classroom to find a great book.

I teach sixth and seventh grade students at a middle school in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, my students live at or below the poverty level. Therefore, getting my students motivated to read is an ongoing challenge, especially when they don't have access to books that interest them.

My Project

Finally, I've motivated my students to read!! But I still need a varied selection of books to keep in my classroom. Therefore, I ordered several books that are popular with teenagers. Because I want to get my students to love to read, I need books that will pique my students' interests, and the books I ordered will meet that need. For example, many of my students want to read the Diary of a Wimpy Kid or Goosebumps books, but these books are never available at the library because they are checked out. Getting this project funded will allow me to secure interesting books so that my students can read during homeroom time, English class, and at home. After my students finish the books, they can take quizzes on them for points. These points will help them improve their grade in English class. Also, I will put the students into groups to share information about the books they are reading to encourage their classmates to want to read the same book

Please help fund my library project.

If funded, my students will have access to wonderful books that can help them become better readers. According to Dr. Seuss, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."
