Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a First Grade Teacher in a Title l school in Bronx, N.Y.. The children in this area are poor with very few family values and life experiences. During these tender years, it is very important that children explore the many creatures of nature. As a teacher, I feel it is my job to fulfill the curiosity of young learners. The weather is warmer and Spring has settled in. The flowers are blooming, and bugs are soon to follow. I am asking that the generous folks at DonorsChoose help me get the supplies needed to bring the life-cycle of a ladybug and butterfly into my classroom. These supplies will bring smiles and knowledge to the young faces of underprivileged children. This life-long learning experience will teach my students the Science concepts of life-cycles, nature, sequencing, earth, as well as, being good caregivers to these insects. I hope that some thoughtful critter will be able to assist me in teaching these First graders a lesson on life.
