My Project

My third-grade students attend a very small, rural Pennsylvania school. Our teachers embrace this rural advantage and make the effort to break the mold of the traditional classroom setting by connecting our students to their community and utilizing the plethora of resources that our country setting provides us. As we all know, public school budgets are under more strain than ever before.

There is such a demand to meet the emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of our students, and the funds to support extracurricular learning just aren't readily available.

Science is a passion of mine, and we need to teach our youth to be creative, progressive thinkers to become successful in their future careers. One of my favorite STEM learning tools is Hexbugs!

I'm asking for a Hexbug track, accessories, and batteries that my students will be able to use for creative play and STEM learning. The supplies will allow my students to explore concepts in engineering to build tracks, bridges, and mazes for their Hexbugs to navigate through. While doing so they will be problem solving, thinking critically, and collaborating with their classmates. I'm excited to try these new resources to refresh our STEM learning and bring a kit that is user-friendly for our everyday use.
