My Project
Sensory learning is critical in the early childhood classroom. Sensory experiences help children talk about what they are creating, address their fine motor skills, and give them chances to solve problems, all while they are socially interacting with their peers. Sensory experiences also contribute to developing awareness through hands-on learning and each child's senses.
Purposeful play is essential!
Sensory play introduces the scientific method of observing, forming a hypothesis, experimenting, and making conclusions while children explore and play. Sensory play also contributes to their love and interest in math and science.
Now more than ever, children need opportunities to participate in purposeful play-based learning that is highly engaging. Through sensory fillers, children will be given additional opportunities to engage in creative play across various centers, but at one of their favorites, sensory experiences! As we learn about plants and the life cycle including pollinators, the sensory trays and fillers will give children additional opportunities to explore. These materials will contribute to additional turn-taking, sharing, and cooperative play opportunities as students build their fine motor skills and develop vocabulary related to the world around them.
