Help me give my students buddy benches for recess! The buddy bench is a simple idea to eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground. Let's spread the message of inclusion and kindness!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Dawn Kaloz's classroom raised $435
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are all inner city youth with the elementary sitting in the middle of subsidized housing. All of the students qualify for both free breakfast and lunch. Many stay at school for free dinner and the after school programming.
Most of my students love coming to school because they feel loved, safe and comfortable at school.
For some, school is the only place they feel safe and loved. Too many of the students have endured extreme trauma: physical, emotional, sexual abuse, extreme poverty or have witnessed domestic violence at a very young age.
My Project
Urban students already have enough challenges and obstacles to power through. Why should recess time be one of those times? This project and lessons will help make recess another safe place for my students.
The buddy bench is a simple idea to eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground.
