Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 2nd grade classroom wrote a letter to our Principal and Vice Principal for a persuasive letter assignment. They asked them to approve a Buddy Bench for our playground. They both approved it! Here is a transcript of the letter they all wrote together. "March 10, 2025. Dear Mr. Deaver and Mr. Chelette, The room _ students would like you to approve "Buddy Benches" at our school. These benches are a place to sit when you want someone to play with without having to ask. We think the benches would benefit students in many ways. First, new students who don't know anyone would make new friends. Next, current students could make new friends too. Then, students just sit on the bench and wait instead of others telling them "No". Last, the benches will give other students a chance to be kind. Buddy benches would be great for our school. We hope you agree and will approve them. If you do, Mrs. Kleveno will write a grant to pay for them. Thank you for considering the Buddy benches. With hope, Mrs. Kleveno's 2nd grade class."
