Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Last summer, I attended a Little Kids Rock workshop that entitled my school to 30 free guitars. This tremendous blessing has opened a lot of doors for my students and our biggest obstacle is the fact we have no music stands.
My students are elementary and middle school children who live in a high poverty city in New Jersey.
They are very excited at the prospect of playing guitars and have been frustrated that they can't have their sheet music out in front of them. Now that they finally have their instruments and the ability to read music, they need a way to look at their sheet music.
My Project
With music stands, my classes of 30 children could practice more effectively, with two children sharing one stand. Rehearsals would not be interrupted because music was falling off of their laps. We could make faster progress and our concerts would be enriched by the improved and eased playing.
My wonderful guitar students deserve to have a great guitar program, which includes the instruments AND the music stands.
I know they will achieve on this instrument but we need your help and support to make this achievement more possible.
