This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need dictionaries in order to expand their vocabularies and be able to appreciate great works of literature.
I work at a continuation high school.
All of my students are from low-income families. My students come from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds and cultures. In many of their homes they do no have access to dictionaries or other avenues of learning that would empower them to compete with students around the country.
My Project
Students will use the dictionaries to help increase their fundamental knowledge of the English language, which will allow them access to great works of literature that they would otherwise be challenged to understand. In doing so, not only will they be academically successful, but personally enriched as well.
This project is going to increase my students ability to comprehend complex and enriching texts, but will also give them the fundamental skills necessary for our students to become life long learners.
