Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Upon entering the classroom the students are so eager to use their hands and imagination to learn and create. Unfortunately, my classroom does not always meet the needs of my very excited learners with regards to materials and supplies.
The students are 4th graders in a very high poverty area in New York City.
They spend their school day in a co-teaching setting. The students are diverse in terms of their backgrounds and their needs. When they are given opportunities, they are constantly surprising and coming up with new and brilliant ideas!
My Project
These resources will drastically change my students' lives for the better because they will be able to have their academics enriched by the integration of art instruction. The art materials that I am requesting are basic supplies that we will need to incorporate across subject areas and to help my students meet the grade level art standards. We need supplies such as paint, markers, paper, crayons, and collage pieces to integrate art into our curriculum.
Art is a way for every child to express their inner emotions and to bring the curriculum to life.
I do not want the recent budget cuts to the arts to impact my students. I want to continue on with formal art instruction and these supplies will allow me to do that.
