This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a Special Education setting and are required to be up to date with the Common Core Literary works. However, we do not have the resources to complete the lessons.
Our school is located in a low income district and we are struggling to be at grade level.
My students crave new learning skills and deserve to have the chance in doing so. My students need 17 copies of the book, "Bud, Not Buddy" to read, relate to and connect with. This book is a great read for middle school students.
My Project
My students will read "Bud, Not Buddy" and complete the sixth grade module unit that connects to the book. We will hear the book on audio to model correct fluency and help us understand how to capture a visual book. They will learn about the Great Depression and the hard times people went through during this time period. They will be able to relate to the characters and see how they can also build hope during the obstacles of life.
Funding for our classroom proposal will be the most exciting moment for myself and my students.
Being able to have the proper resources to complete lessons will be the best feeling. Thank you in advance we really appreciate you!
