My Project
My students are full of energy, heart, and a hunger to learn through movement. As their PE teacher, I work to create fun, active experiences — even without a gym. Basketball is one of the most exciting ways for them to develop hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and perseverance. But with no hoops, no court, and limited equipment, my students miss out on the full experience of the game.
This project will transform our blacktop into a real basketball court.
With two portable basketball goals, twelve age-appropriate basketballs, a wheeled rack for easy storage, and spray paint for court lines, we’ll finally be able to teach basketball the way it’s meant to be played. K–2 students will build confidence learning to dribble and shoot at an adjustable height, while grades 3–5 can engage in real games, apply strategy, and experience success through teamwork. These tools will open doors to skill-building, goal-setting, and joyful movement for every child.
What makes my students special is their resilience and excitement — they come ready to play and grow every day, even without the traditional resources many schools have. They deserve a space that reflects their passion and effort. This equipment won’t just improve our PE class — it will give my students a sense of ownership, pride, and possibility. Thank you for helping us take our shot!
