My Project
I have the pleasure of teaching second grade at a diverse, darling school in San Diego. Our motto is Small School, Big Family and we truly are. Our students are a mix of neighborhood students and students from a nearby shelter for at-risk families. Our small size and diverse student body are what makes us GREAT!
I want my students to experience the joy of celebrating their accomplishments at the end of the year that is afforded to students at high socioeconomic schools.
Towards the end of the school year, my students will participate in themed learning activities like creating summer buckets lists in writing as well as unlocking summer activities in math. I have requested materials which will allow me to surprise my students with Summer Celebration Buckets that align with our end of the year academics. Each bucket will contain bubbles, sunglasses, silly straws, and a beach ball. My students will sign each other's beach balls on the last day of school which will give them a momento of their friendships and school year.
The Beach Buckets will give my students a sense of pride in their accomplishments!
