My Project
Our classroom desks are wobbly, dingy, and uninviting for the students. They are a mismatch of different sizes, styles, and heights. My sweet children don't complain but I know it is frustrating when they are trying to work. The classroom chairs are also less then ideal because they don't always fit under the desks. I have several flexible seating areas so they don't have to stay at their desks. There also have a set of bucket seats that I made several years ago using old, white, pickle buckets which have been worn down and scratched up from the years of use. I have tried to refurbish them but they won't clean up. The lids have to be pried off in order to use the buckets for storage.
I want to give my students some upgraded bucket seating to make them more comfortable and make the room more inviting.
The screw-top lids will have a cushion and be covered with fabric. I will add the Velcro to the bottom of the seat top so that the cushion can be removed. This will make the buckets more versatile to use as storage. I plan to use the bucket seats during my teacher-led small groups. Students will also be able to move them around the room to use during different learning opportunities. Most importantly, the buckets will be black so the scratches and dirt won't show up as much.
