This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Remember in high school when Biology and Chemistry were full of experiments and actual investigations!? Well, let's bring it back to elementary school! These materials will help my students get a deep understanding of chemical reactions, the properties of matter, stars, and the water cycle.

We are going to create a bag of bubbles combining baking soda and vinegar in a sealed bag.

Students will observe how gas bubbles produced cause the ziplock bag to inflate and sometimes to pop right before their eyes! In another experiment, students will see how the interactions between the Sun and Moon are responsible for the Moon’s phases with styrofoam balls and flashlights. Students have slime at home, but they really know what its made of and why those ingredients make slime? Borax, school glue, why do we need these two types of ingredients? There are so many different activities we can do with these materials!
