My Project

After reading Peter Liljedahl's book, Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics, I would like to set up my math classroom in a way that supports building a thinking classroom. The use of whiteboards is a daily activity in math class.

Using the Building Thinking Classrooms Model in Mathematics (BTC), students work on vertical erasable surfaces on the walls of the classroom, This new structure of teaching math requires whiteboards and lots of them!

For over an hour every day, students work in groups of three standing up, thinking and building their math learning through a staircase of tasks done completely on the whiteboards. So with the whiteboards I can create many stations throughout out the classroom where students can stand up and collaborate. The BTC model promotes "defronting" the classroom in order to promote more group discussion and less teacher focus.
