This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a school social worker assigned to work in an elementary school in the south Bronx with the homeless population. I have 900 students in total, 146 of them do not have permanent housing. This page will be used to help fund play therapy, calming toys, decor and social-emotional must-haves for this population. NYC only gave me a small amount which is far low for what I will need to help service this most vulnerable of populations. Thanks with love!
My Project
I am assigned to work with homeless children in a South Bronx school. There are 150 young ones in need of social-emotional help. These little ones are amongst the most vulnerable of populations in NYC. It is with these tools I can help find their inner voice. These items are essential in the foundation of their young lives. With my help, they will be able to regulate and understand their feelings. They will learn about different cultures and families. This is just the beginning of many materials needed to build their brave safe space within my office. Thanks to you all for lending a hand.
