Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 8th grade math in the Inner Bronx, and too many of my students are far behind their grade level. Our students, however, are very creative. They love to express themselves. Even so, unlike most suburban schools that have access to computers and smart boards, etc., to work out math problems, all we have is an old style chalk board. My students are very behind grade level. I need to teach the students not as a whole, but groups based on where they are out. However, we lack the support material to do this. I want to give groups their own individual book to work on. This will ensure we meet their individual needs!! Also, they will take ownership of their growth. Each student will have to recreate a problem from their learning to teach back to the group. This will tap into their creativity and you learn by doing. These resource materials will be used each year!
