Help me give my students new Spalding backboards for our basketball court. Currently, we are playing with broken backboards that are held together by duct tape. We also need a new ball pump and uniform shorts.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from low-income families. When they come to school it's an escape for them. We try our best to make sure every student receives what they need regardless of their economic status. The majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch making us a Title-1 school. Our teachers share their supplies with our students so they have everything they need to succeed in school. Many of our students spend most of their day in school because their parents work long shifts or two jobs to make ends meet.
We try to not only instill in them the importance of education, but also the importance of health and nutrition.
We offer a variety of sports for all ages including basketball, soccer, t-ball, cheerleading, and flag football. Through these sports programs, our students learn the importance of taking care of their bodies, teamwork, perseverance, and leadership. Our sports program is in need of some new equipment for the coming years. Please take a minute to check us out. Thank you!
My Project
If our project is fully funded, our sports program will be taken to a whole other level.
With this new equipment, our school will be proud to host other schools and have games against them on our court.
Currently, our backboards are broken and held together by duct tape. Getting new backboards will make our court look so much better as well as make it safer to play on. Also, we need a sturdy ball pump and new uniform shorts! All of this will give our sports program a more professional feel and attract more students to take charge and lead healthier lives.
