Broaden Your Vocabulary

My students need word root dictionaries to broaden their vocabulary in an easy, meaningful way. Many students do not have dictionaries at home, and this book has it all. Please help us.

My Students

A huge challenge is conveying to students the importance of expanding their vocabulary. My school has few resources, and I must spend many hours on the Internet searching for appropriate materials. My students must share or copy materials which takes valuable time away from learning.

My students are fantastic!

We have grown to be a true family despite our great number of diversities. My group of seventh-graders needs every advantage I and others, can provide them. Not all of my students are big on reading, but I have learned the main reason is they do not understand the meanings of words. In order for my students to become more successful in all areas of life, I want students to get more excited about learning new words. Students at my school are thrilled to be part of a school district which still values the importance of arts, sports, and after school club activities. Student motivation to grow and learn is usually there, but we need resources to be there for students too. My students deserve the best!

My Project

We have successfully used the workbook I am currently requesting. We are quite fond of this particular resource for many reasons: 1. Students will not have to share copies, nor will students have to take the time to hand-write a copy of the material. 2. Students will be able to use this workbook inside and outside of the classroom. 3. The workbook is multifunctional, meaning that it serves as a spelling book, a dictionary, a thesaurus, a practice book, and a vocabulary builder. 4. The workbook is packed with information, but it is not overwhelming, heavy to carry, or complicated. The students and I will use the workbook as part of our everyday routine, and students will be tested in various ways on their newly learned vocabulary.

Each student will have the same opportunities, and the same chances for success if we have this "all-inclusive" book.

We will be able to spend a tremendous amount of time doing creative, innovating teaching and learning. I will not have to take time to create appropriate materials. Students will not have to use valuable class time copying materials, word for word, in order to have the resources they need. The "additional" time will be spend in a much more useful, productive manner.
