Broadcast Like a Boss: Career-Ready Media from SparkLab

My Project

I work with an amazing group of middle and high school students in our district’s SparkLab—a creative innovation space where learners explore high-tech careers through hands-on, student-driven projects. What I love most about my students is how boldly they dream when they’re given tools that match their imagination. Many have never imagined themselves as broadcasters, filmmakers, or media producers—but once they start creating, their confidence grows, and they begin to see real possibilities for their future.

This project will launch a student-led broadcasting and media studio to empower my students as storytellers, journalists, producers, and on-camera hosts.

The Insta360 Ace Pro camera will allow students to capture high-quality footage on the go, whether it’s school events, SparkLab highlights, or interviews. Lapel mics and a condenser mic with an arm will give them clear, professional audio. The LED lights will enhance our green screen studio setup, and the stream deck will give students control over livestreams and scene changes—just like in a professional studio. These tools will give my students the chance to learn skills in video production, storytelling, broadcasting, and communication—all while having a blast creating projects they care about.

Most importantly, this project gives students access to see themselves in careers they might not have imagined before. They’ll explore future paths in digital storytelling and build the self-efficacy they need to believe they belong in creative tech spaces.
