Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My scholars have a genuine enthusiasm about learning. Our school is classified as title one but you would not know it because our scholars step into a place where effort and learning is celebrated. Our learning community empowers our scholars and lead them to believe one true reality; that they are our main inspiration for all our efforts and creativities. I admire their genuine values of friendship, love for their families and effort into every project I introduce.
Most of my students are English learners and hands on activities enriches their intellect.
They are able to make connection to core content while enthusiastically experiencing making projects come to life.
My Project
As a grade level, we just started our astronomy unit. In our future lessons we will explore the sun, moon, stars and planets. My students will see, think and wonder about patterns we see in our sky and the paths of our sun across the sky. Furthermore, my students will be learning about the changing seasons, and the changing constellations. As a grade level, we will also discuss how scientists collect data with the assistance of rovers and satellites. With these materials, my students will engage on being engineers and build a rover that moves by itself just like the real rover sent to Mars by NASA.
I feel so vey lucky that my students are always ready to learn; nonetheless, having a hands on project highlights my scholars creativity while learning about the real world.
Beforehand, I will cut the toothbrushes and bag the batteries, lightbulbs and cell motors. We, my school admin and I will set up a day for my parents to pick up the materials, drive through.
