My Students
My students are in temporary housing. I am the community coordinator and I support students and their families with housing, benefits, and all other needs.
While many of my students are experiencing displacement, homelessness, doubled up, etc.
many of them are still doing well in class and are resilient enough not to let those circumstances stop them from being all they can be.
My students are special needs and are diagnosed with different mental, educational, or social disabilities. They still work just as hard as the students in general education.
My Project
I would like to help bring warmth to my students by being able to supply them with hats and socks. I plan on distributing goodie bags of these warm items to students, to ensure that no one goes without.
I have added novelty stress balls and red bags to the warmth goodie bags due to Valentines Day coming up.
These items will give the students an item to play with and bring them joy during the holiday season. I have also added a label printer to ensure that everyone has their names on their own items, and that no one is touching anyone else's bags due to social distancing rules.
I plan to be able to supply both students at home and in the building. Remote students will benefit as well. The students will use this material by making care packets for their classmates. They will be hands-on in packing the hats, socks etc. This will teach them the lesson on humanitarianism, especially in unpredictable times such as now. Students will be taught about the importance of donation without being asked.
