My students are geographically challenged. Many came to me not knowing what continent they live on. I want them to not only become familiar with our little corner of the world but also see what the whole world has to offer. I want to provide them with daily geography exposure to enlighten them.
My kids love to investigate the world around them but have very little knowledge of geography.
We live in Florida and many of them have never even left the state. They relish any time we spend viewing maps because it is their "passport" to the world. If we get the world map rug, they can study it all day long.
My Project
I want to bring the entire world into our classroom. I know they love hearing about my travels and have aspirations of traveling the world themselves. I want to fan the flames and encourage them to get out there and experience the joys that the big, wide world has to offer by bringing in a rug that shows them a world map. They will love it.
My students love studying geography.
The materials I have selected for them will bring the big world into our tiny 4th grade classroom. They will marvel at all the world has to offer because many of them have never even left our state.
