Bringing the Love of Reading to Their Fingertips!

My students need various nonfiction and fiction books to in order to prepare themselves to a world of reading that they wouldn't have access to outside of the classroom.

My Students

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 70% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school was a Focus school from the NJ DOE. Our students need to be engaged each moment of the day to ensure total retention of the knowledge.

I am hoping to help change the course of my student's lives by providing them with real-life experiences through the books chosen for this project. Without having the financial means to purchase books of all genres on their own, the students rely heavily on a well stock and diverse classroom library.

My Project

These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy and need to be successful as independent readers. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind and the new curriculum my school has implemented this year. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own reading level.

They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
