This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in an inner city neighborhood. Most of the students have two working parents and many speak a second language at home. The neighborhood our school is located in is a diverse, urban setting.

My students are eager young learners.

This school year will be their first exposure to a large public school. The children speak another language at home and are economically challenged. Most students get free lunch.

My students deserve to start their academic careers with as many opportunities as I can provide for them. They are curious and creative. They are full of questions and constantly exploring the world around them.

My Project

The items for this project will create hands-on experiences for my Pre-K students. These materials will bring the natural world into the classroom.

Pre-K will grow flowers and vegetables, play in a sandbox and observe the life cycle of butterflies and ladybugs.

Teaching during the pandemic has made our classroom somewhat sterile and dull due to Covid-19 restrictions. The items for this project will bring the beauty of the natural world into the classroom.

My Pre-K students will be able to grow a garden, play in a sandbox and observe butterflies and ladybugs grow.
