Bringing Textiles to WAHS

Help me give my students a digital embroidery machine. I would like to use this machine as a way to introduce my students to the art of textiles. Students will be able to create custom embroidered patches.

My Project

Bring textiles to WAHS in Charleston, South Carolina! This embroidery machine will introduce students to world of textiles. Textile art has a rich history in clothing, tapestries, and now pop culture. With this machine students will learn how to create digital vector drawings that can turn into wearable patches and designs.

This multistep process will expose students to craftsmanship, design, and technology in art.

For many students art might feel pointless when it hangs on their wall, but to wear what they make gives them a greater appreciation for what they made and the process that goes into creating art.
