This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love my middle school students. They are curious, playful, sarcastic and full of questions and energy. They show respect by their dress, language and decorum. I teach in a highly diverse area of Tucson, where many lower income families live, and where free and reduced meals are served before, during and after school.

My students enjoy making music and working together toward common goals, whether they are learning Beethoven or Led Zeppelin.

They are determined to show excellence in band class by reaching for the highest state of personal and ensemble musical expression.

My Project

We are continuing to expand our use of technology in the classroom. We already have a computer in our practice room, and have subscribed to SmartMusic. Now, we are purchasing a few tablets to continue bringing digital music resources into the music room.

This iPad will allow band students to take their band music anywhere, and to utilize online digital media from a variety of sources, to enhance their learning.

Imagine playing with an entire digital band, while practicing your part for a concert. Imagine creating a new composition using a tablet. These are just a few of the applications we are exploring with technology in the band room.
