My Students
A typical day in my 3rd grade classroom is bursting with students who are thirsty to learn and grow! I want all of my students to feel as though they have accomplished all that is in their power..Biggest challenge is having the resources to help them accomplish this.
My school is a Title 1 school.
My classroom consists of 23 students. Several of my students are previous holdover students and/or students who receive intervention services. Our school was impacted by hurricane Sandy at which time many of my students as well as our entire staff were relocated for 3 months. My students are visual learners. I do not have nor does my school have the resources to provide me the necessary equipment that I need to accomplish my job as their teacher.
My Project
My classroom desperately needs another laptop/chrome book since I only have one working computer in my classroom. My students will use the computer for research and typing reports as well as research projects. They will also utilize the chrome book to do practice and reinforcement for their subjects through our math programs practice website. The Elmo projector will allow my students to become active participants in our lessons. Allowing them to see the actual text and/or lesson being presented in a manner in which they can follow along.
Donations for these two items will help my students to learn in a way in which they weren't able to before.
Being an active participant in their learning will help 100%. 90% of my students are from low income families who are unable to provide even a laptop to their child. These items will let my students experience more than one way to get an education and feel successful in school and in life!
