This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Books have the power to transport students beyond the walls of our classroom—to different times, places, and perspectives. They introduce new ideas, spark imagination, and build empathy. In our classroom, novel studies are not just about reading; they are about experiencing stories, connecting with characters, and learning life lessons that extend far beyond the pages.

Right now, our selection of books is limited, and many are outdated or too worn to engage young readers fully.

I want my students to see themselves in stories—to find characters who reflect their struggles, dreams, and identities. I want to introduce them to diverse voices and authors who challenge them to think critically and feel deeply.

New books will ignite a love for reading, foster meaningful discussions, and create opportunities for every student to find a story that speaks to them. With fresh, engaging novels, I can bring literature to life in a way that resonates with my students, helping them grow not just as readers, but as thoughtful, compassionate individuals.

This isn’t just about books. It’s about giving my students the gift of stories that will stay with them forever.
