Bringing Stories and Math to Life for Little Learners

My Project

My students are creative, curious, and eager to learn new things every day. They come to school ready to explore ideas and grow as readers, writers, and thinkers.

This project aims to add more engaging picture books and hands-on math tools to our classroom, giving my students more opportunities to learn, think deeply, and develop a lifelong love of reading and problem-solving.

Our interactive read-aloud lessons help students build vocabulary, improve comprehension, and strengthen their writing skills while enjoying great stories together. Each week, we read the same book several times with a new focus each day. First, we learn new vocabulary and discuss the story. Then, we reread the book to practice skills like retelling or describing characters. Finally, we use sentences from the story to practice grammar and writing through fun, hands-on activities.

In addition to the new picture books, this project also includes math manipulatives to reinforce understanding of the commutative property in class. These hands-on materials will help students visualize and better understand how numbers work, building a stronger foundation in math through play and exploration.
