it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Human Body Systems Model – When learning about the circulatory system, students with limited English proficiency may struggle to understand terms like "arteries," "veins," and "heart chambers" through text alone.
"The 3D models of human body systems and flowers will provide my English language learners with hands-on, visual learning tools that bridge language barriers and deepen their understanding of complex scientific concepts.
These models will allow students with a WIDA score of 1 to engage in interactive learning, making abstract ideas more concrete and accessible. By physically exploring the structures of the human body and flowers, students can develop critical thinking skills, improve vocabulary acquisition, and build confidence in discussing scientific topics, ultimately enhancing their overall comprehension and engagement in science."
Hands-on Vocabulary Acquisition – When discussing the skeletal system, students can use a 3D skeleton model to point out and name bones like the femur, ribcage, and skull. This interactive approach helps them connect new words to physical objects, improving their ability to describe body structures in both written and spoken language.
My goal isThe goal of requesting science 3D models in our English Language Learners (ELL) science class is to provide visual and interactive tools that enhance comprehension and engagement. These models will support ELL students by helping them better understand complex scientific concepts, such as the human body systems, through hands-on learning. By incorporating 3D models, we aim to bridge language barriers, making abstract ideas more accessible and allowing students to visualize and interact with science content in a way that complements their language development.
