Bringing Reading Back! Sit On The Rug and Hands On Your Lap!
My students need to find that love of learning! Making circle time bright, colorful, and comfy, with a new rug and soft seats, will entice students to spend that extra time learning how to read.
Being read to as a child is one of the most exhilarating experiences. Your teacher makes those words come to life and draws you in. I want my students to be comfy and clean while doing it. For the first time I am teaching in a classroom that I would feel safe having the students sit on a rug.
My students are a bunch of eager little sponges.
Each of them has shown me that they have the drive and passion for learning. They know that they need help and are willing to accept it from me. As a special education student it is hard to trust someone with your secret, the I need help, secret. Students try to hide it because they think it is something they did wrong. I want to show my students that their love of learning can continue with or without a learning disability.
My Project
With this fantastic, colorful, learning tool literally at our feet we will be able to learn the location of states while I use it as a classroom management tool to better organize circle time. I want my students to get excited to come sit on the rug with comfy seat cushions made just for them! As a Special Education Teacher I am always trying to find ways to get my students to love something that is so challenging for them. This is a struggle for me! With this gift I hope that I can make the learning experience more colorful and bright and lighten the mood of the students to start reading on a positive note. I want all the other students to look in my room and be jealous so that THEY want to come work with Mrs. Pabon!
My students need a bright spot in their learning struggles.
Getting a gift would let them know that people care about their success and are pulling for them to get better. This will be used for our direct instruction reading program, making something difficult and not so appalling to them seem fun and exciting. It would really give them something positive and with a positive attitude I know that the level of motivation will increase and my students will have greater success!
