My Project
Students' attention spans have decreased and anxiety and depression have increased following COVID-19. STEAM class is opportunity for students to practice collaboration, creativity, communication and critical thinking and have fun. Squishy circuits use conductive and insulating play dough to provide a playful hands-on opportunity to reinforce science standards relating to circuits and electricity for grades three and up. The tactile pleasure of squishing, molding, and sculpting of Play-Doh is accessible and invites creativity. After reinforcing different concepts, like open, closed, series, and parallel circuits, students can apply their creative minds to create electronic sculptures sculptures that light up, move, and make sounds. This project finds the sweet spot between art, science, and technology and allows students to feel like they are "playing" while learning.
