This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first grade teacher, I’m always looking for ways to make learning both effective and enjoyable for my students. One of their favorite times of the day is station time—when they explore, collaborate, and build skills in small groups. To make this time even more special, I’m hoping to bring in cozy, leaf-shaped floor pillows that reflect their love for nature and the outdoors.

My students are curious, energetic, and happiest when they feel comfortable and connected to their environment.

These leaf pillows will transform our classroom into a warm, inviting space that mirrors the outdoor world they love. More than just a cozy spot to sit, the pillows will give them a sense of calm, focus, and ownership over their learning space.

How It Will Benefit My Students

Comfort & Focus: Comfortable seating helps young learners stay focused and engaged during station activities like reading, writing, and hands-on tasks.

Nature-Inspired Learning: The leaf design ties into their love of nature, helping to create a calming, themed environment that sparks curiosity.

Flexible Seating: The pillows support our flexible seating model, giving students the choice of where and how they learn best.

Positive Learning Space: A cozy and inviting classroom helps build a sense of belonging and encourages students to take pride in their space
