Gods! Goddesses! Monsters! Powers! Good triumphs over evil! So much that appeals to 4th-grade students reading about Greek mythology! If only we actually had books to read....

My students live in a world of scarcity.

Very few have computers, books, or even a library card. For most, their parents speak a language other than English, and they are second-language learners. They are bright, lively, interested, engaged, and appreciative kids. They deserve all the good things life has to offer, and a chance to leave a positive mark on the world. They have great potential and desire.

My Project

Gods! Goddesses! Monsters! Powers! Good triumphs over evil! Life lessons! How appealing to 4th-grade students reading about Greek mythology! Sadly, we don't have mythology books to read. This request would provide a classroom set of mythology books, at an appropriate reading level, to engage 4th graders in understanding the elements of literature and myths.

Pandora's Box... a Herculean feat..

a Midas touch.... We hear and understand what these allusions mean, but in the mind of a 9- to 10-year-old child they are vague concepts because they have no exposure to the fascinating world of Greek mythology. These books would give students the chance to read several myths and to understand the vocabulary and allusions of each.
