This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title 1 school with a diverse population. My students come from hard-working families who just barely make ends meet. I try me very best to make sure their parents don't spend any of their hard-earned money for my classes. Aside from all the cognitive and developmental research that shows music is academically beneficial to students, it's just flat-out fun! They learn social skills, leadership, a means for self-expression and confidence. I strive to provide a unique and memorable music experience for all my students.

My Project

A music classroom has instruments, chairs and music stands, but rarely any desks or tables because of the space needed for instrumental music. As versatile as music stands are, they serve to hold sheet music, light books, and can sometimes be used as a surface to write on. But when it's time for projects or deeper collaboration, a music stand would be impractical and can get worn out quickly.

Folding tables would be perfect for my classroom when it's time for student research projects which require group collaboration.

They can be set up quickly for necessary assignments and projects and be easily stored to reset the room for music activities and instruments.
