This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Next year, I’ll be transitioning from a Montessori school to a public elementary classroom—and I’m bringing my passion for hands-on, student-centered learning with me.
My new students are 95% Latino, come from diverse backgrounds, and many face economic hardship.
They carry incredible potential, but also large academic gaps and limited access to the kinds of joyful, meaningful learning experiences every child deserves.
I firmly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn at their own pace, in a way that honors their strengths and supports their growth. Montessori materials such as Bead Decanomials are powerful tools that make this possible, especially in mixed-level classrooms. They allow students to build deep conceptual understanding in math, develop independence, and gain the confidence that comes from mastering skills through exploration and practice.
With your support, I hope to bring key Montessori math materials into my new classroom. These resources will help bridge learning gaps, spark curiosity, and empower every student to take ownership of their learning journey.
