My students need real world hands-on resources that accommodate their visual learning style and can be used to promote family engagement to provide a deeper learning experience beyond school.

My Students
These highly energetic 5th graders are more visually inclined and learn math best when physical objects are accessible to help them make sense of problem-solving. I will surely share the resources across the grade-level so that 110+ 5th graders would have the opportunity to engage in such a powerful learning structure.
There may come a time when our students struggle with a certain activity, therefore we must find out to change the environment where they are equipped with the resources that match the real-world tasks at hand.
These students really enjoy highly engaging activities where they can utilize hands-on learning and accommodate their tactile learning strengths.
However, when we are engaged in solving real-world problems, we must be equipped with real world resources that we may be able to make relevant connections and improve retention of the concept.
My Project
With the background and cultures of our student population, family engagement is vital and can have a significant impact on their academic achievement. We have many family math nights, but lack the real world and family-orient activities that would present a high interest for our families.
In addition, the "Family Engagement Pack" can be extended to the home and keep students learning at home home with games that target key math skills as opposed to the tradition homework that can oftentimes be problematic for both students parents.
While "Baseball Math Multiplication and Division Problem-Solving Kit" provides real-world math problems that show purpose and meaning for engaging in math. It contains a variety of relevant high-interest activities that will help the students to develop and reinforce skills in multiplication, division and solving multi-step word problems.
