Help me give my students a listening center! They are in need of CD player, head phones and the ability to plug multiple head phones in at once so they can all listen to the same story.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Next year I will be a teacher entering my second year of teaching! I am lucky and have planted my roots in first grade. In first grade there is a large group of diverse and motivated learners. These students are future medical professionals, educators and world leaders of tomorrow!
This group of amazing and eager-to-learn students come from all walks of life and have more life experiences than they ever should at their age.
Even with these experiences, they are still the most motivated group of students you will ever meet. These students are surrounded by homelessness, food insecurity and many more challenges. However, despite their backgrounds, nevertheless, they persist and come into school every day, ready to learn!
Many of our students are hurricane Irma and Maria refugees who had to come to the United States due to the devastation that happened. A majority of these students, a year or so later, are still displaced.
Please help me continue to make a difference in their lives by giving them the classroom that they deserve.
My Project
Please consider helping my students get a listening center. I truly believe that reading is such an important cornerstone to learning and if I could read to my students every single moment of the day- I would.
Using books on CD will help my students connect to the story more.
Listening to a book being read much like a teacher or a caregiver reading not only brings the stories to life but also gives depth to their reading experience. While listening to reading students are able to hear the different sounds of the words and provides a model of fluent reading.
Many of my students are English language learners, and it has been proven that read-a-loud books are helpful for them to acquire the already complicated English language.
