My Project
My 2nd grade students are curious, kind, and full of energy! They are developing readers who thrive on stories that make them laugh, think, and connect with characters in meaningful ways. Every day, I see how the right book can spark joy and transform a hesitant reader into a confident one.
I am requesting additional books by the beloved author Jory John to expand our classroom library.
We already have four of his books — The Bad Seed, The Good Egg, The Cool Bean, and The Smart Cookie — and my students absolutely love them. They are constantly rereading them, quoting their favorite lines, and recommending them to classmates. These books have truly ignited excitement for reading in our classroom.
Jory John's stories are engaging, funny, and filled with important messages about emotions, self-confidence, kindness, and growth. They resonate with 2nd graders and encourage even reluctant readers to pick up a book.
By adding more of his titles to our collection, I can keep that momentum going — giving students access to books they’re eager to read and helping them build critical literacy skills along the way.
Having more Jory John books in our library will:
Foster a love of reading with high-interest, student-approved books.
Encourage rereading, discussion, and book sharing among peers.
Support social-emotional learning in a relatable and humorous way.
Help develop fluency, comprehension, and confidence in young readers.
