Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Frank Black Middle school serves an economically and racially diverse community of students. Some are able to come back from summer vacations in Europe, but more than half of our population qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Regardless, all of our students are eager to stretch themselves to meet high academic standards and showcase their many and varied talents. It's our goal to provide an environment where each one may do so equally. In order to make good on that promise, we need technology to prepare them to be the globally competitive graduates they truly want to be.
My Project
Modern students require modern engagement. The Amazon Fire, relatively inexpensive, but able to connect to the internet, will open up many ways for me to monitor student understanding, including using tools like Kahoot, Padlet, and Socrative. It will also give us an avenue to pursue meaningful research projects on topics that may not be covered with the resources in our school library. The tablets, small enough to be stored in bins at our table, have a long enough battery life to last us the whole day. These tablets are a new opportunity to add dynamism to our everyday lesson plan!
