My Project
Our 3rd graders are funny, enthusiastic, and so caring and loving towards every member of our class! Our little community is as diverse and can be in every sense of the word. Along that beautiful diversity, comes different needs and challenges for learning.
Our hope is that these sensory materiales will help our students focus and remain focused throughout instructional time, as well as provide necessary sensory breaks when needed.
The weighted animals will provide sensory input for students who need it to stay focused, the chew necklaces and toys will give a safe object for students to chew on when needed, and the rest of the tactile pieces offer a wide range of inputs that can satisfy different needs and preferences.
The reading canopy will help create a cozy corner where students can have a break from classroom stimuli, and take a moment for themselves to self soothe and come back ready to learn. The emotions sensory tile will help provide a focal point and soothing texture, helping student identify their emotions by matching the faces to how they are feeling.
