My Project
My students, especially my Advisory and elective students, really look forward to Fridays. Truth be told, so do I! Among the fun Friday activities students love are board games. Unfortunately, I have very few board games in my classroom and not enough so that students can all play their favorite one at the same time. To remedy this, I am seeking to purchase a wide variety of board games, including card games, Bingo games, and challenge games, to ensure that Fun Fridays really create core memories and build community in my classroom. When students play with each other, they communicate face to face, they laugh out loud, and their joy fills our classroom. Students bond over game play, and it is my hope that these games will create lasting connections that sustain them throughout their high school career.
Bring the fun back to Fridays by sponsoring a cupboard full of board games that will help my students' mental health and fulfill their social-emotional needs.
Many of my students struggle with mental health issues, lack social skills, and demonstrate an unhealthy dependence on screens. Many of my students have had to grow up too fast, working to support their families, taking care of siblings, or even caring for elderly family members. These board games will help them to release their stress, connect with their classmates, and relax. In sum, by playing these board games, my students will have a chance to be kids for a short time, playing, laughing, and enjoying school. Help me to purchase these board games so that I can bring the fun on Fridays to help my students feel happier and be more connected to each other and our school.
