"There are many little ways to enlarge your world. Love of books is the best of all.” – Jacqueline Kennedy. My fourth graders have a genuine thirst for reading.
Books transport children out of the present and into print.
Children have an opportunity to explore magical realms, biographies, and times from long ago just by opening a book.
My kids thrive when doing collaborative reading assignments, and while I do have an extensive classroom library, I have very few sets, or multiples.
My students "want" to learn, "strive" to do their best, and CAN succeed. We just need you!
My Project
Implementing book clubs into my reading instruction has always been one of my goals. This year, I am determined to make that happen! Book clubs only require students to read, but they also guide students to develop speaking and listening skills as well as critical thinking.
My students desperately need sets of historical fiction books to make book clubs both fun and enjoyable!
Research shows that readers who read and discuss their experiences together, benefit much more from the books that if they had read the books privately.
I am requesting sets of historical fiction books for our reading units. I know my students will love these books. Please consider making a donation to this project and encouraging a love of reading in my students.
