This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am extremely blessed to be the teacher of 35 creative, compassionate, inquisitive, eager learners! Many in our classroom family must hurdle the challenges of attention deficit, self-confidence, English acquisition, dysgraphia, specific learning disabilities, anxiety, and Autism. They are a phenomenal group of students who are amazing in every way!

Despite challenges, my 5th-grade students look forward to a new school year bringing with them tremendous creativity, potential, willingness to take risks, and enthusiasm that is contagious!

My students engage in inquiry, problem-solving, and collaboration. I'm excited to share all of the interactive and virtual lessons I've spent all summer planning for them. Current technology is the vehicle needed, though, to bring our classroom to life!

My Project

A typical day in our class includes learning reading and writing through social studies. Students analyze primary sources, write journals, letters and essays, develop presentations, and even transform into historical figures. My students engage in collaborative inquiry projects each year that engage them in learning experiences that address different learning styles and interests, as well as provide access to inspiring technology and innovative experiences that take them beyond the classroom walls. Their learning experiences, though, are hindered by our limited (we now have only 1 computer and 1 laptop that can access applications, programs, and the Internet) technology. My students need 2 HP Laptops in order to reach beyond our classroom walls. These will be used daily to allow students to learn creatively. The laptops are crucial for facilitating the development of presentations, communication with me, peers, field experts, and even students beyond our school. The laptops would make a world of difference to my students.
