This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Over the summer I have the opportunity to go to a History Alive! workshop. After learning more about the program I knew it would be beneficial to my students. The materials that they presented were engaging and could truly help the students build an appreciation for American History and social studies. The materials are invaluable for the range of students that I teach. The lesson plans include accommodations for students who range in abilities from having IEPs, to English Language Learners, to Honors students. One of the biggest challenges I have found working in my middle schools is finding relevant, well written materials which underprivileged inner city students can appreciate. The materials I am asking for the Supplemental History Alive! Twentieth Century United States History: The United States Coming of Age 1890-1920. I feel this would be an invaluable addition to my 154 students. I feel history and social studies is a much ignored subject in school that can teach students invaluable lessons about the present. I want all my students to connect with those who came before them.
