Bringing Diversity, Social Justice, Inclusion, & SEL to the Classroom

Help me give my students sensory items, SEL books, and growth mindset journals to support them in regulating emotions/focus, and Diversity, Social Justice & Inclusion books that enable every child to see themselves represented in the classroom.

My Project

I have noticed a dramatic negative impact on learning for students due to the pandemic as well as a significant effect on their social-emotional development. These gaps in learning have disproportionately affected students from low-income areas where they were not provided the adequate resources needed to support them in their at-home learning. On the positive side, children are extremely resilient and can bounce back quickly given the proper resources and guidance needed to close those learning and SEL gaps. I am hoping the tools I put in my cart will help me to support my students in closing those gaps, both academically and socially.

The Diversity, Social Justice, and Inclusion library will help every student feel as though they belong and are respected as an individual in my classroom and the SEL tools and books will help them in their social and emotional growth and well-being.

The growth mindset journals will help them to work towards their academic and social emotional growth each and every day. I have no doubt that my students will excel with these extra supports in place to support them.
