This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Developing calming strategies with a great group of diverse learners is a top priority this school year. Students may still feel anxious about their return to school and safety measures put in place. When students are able to reduce stressful school days they are better learners. Having the classroom teachers use strategies to help students self-regulate and relax during the school day is of the utmost importance this school year. Introducing the students to mindfulness activities will offer students alternatives strategies to use in the classroom.
My Project
The use of yoga mats in the classroom will increase students' ability to maintain a calm classroom environment. Students were introduced to yoga and mindfulness activities during remote learning and seemed to enjoy it. Having the yoga mats in the classroom will offer students more opportunities to practice mindfulness activities and reduce the incidents of anger. Yoga and mindfulness practices teach students deep breathing, sensory activities, and offer more strategies to solve problems and improve listening skills.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student's ability to use self-calming skills, self-regulation skills, and improve attention in the classroom, you will ultimately help to increase their academic success and peer relationships.
