Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am hoping to participate in this training so that I can help to bring yoga and mindfulness to the ASU Prep Downtown Phoenix. Breathe For Change is a program that aims to help equip educators with the tools that they need to help manage behaviors in their classrooms and school campuses through the use of trauma informed yoga practices, mindfulness, and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).
Next school year, our campus is going to adopt a program called "Family Choice Friday" where students and their families choose if the students are going to attend school in-person or digitally.
Through this program, students will have the option to participate in enrichment activities on Friday's. This program is where I plan to put the training that I would recieve into practice. This would look like weekly yoga and mindfulness practices for students who choose to come to campus. My hope is that this training would help me provide students with the tools that they need to process and understand their emotions at a deeper level.
