My school is a challenging campus as we draw from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnically diverse groups.

On my campus, there are a large number of students who will be first-time college-bound students; some of them first-time high school graduates in their families! What a tribute to their families! My students have the drive to learn, to achieve, and to succeed enough to get them into college. All they need to succeed is dedication along with a guide to help them learn how to study, how to be proud of their work and have confidence in themselves!

My Project

I am requesting five balance ball chairs, a chair that can be used to help strengthen core muscles transforming stationary sitting into an activity. The balance ball chair allows students to move in all directions in a safe manner, which can lead to more productive brainstorming sessions. Students that have a difficult time sitting still are also able to focus better on the lesson in the classroom because they are able to move in a controlled manner while sitting on the balance ball chair! Physical activity leads to great brain activity!

Middle school is the last opportunity for my students to close the gap in their mathematical skill and thinking before they head off to the high school.

The balance ball chairs that have been requested for this project will allow some of my more active students to continue to be active during class while focusing on the lesson at the same time! A win- win situation!
